My first work experience was with the Emporium-Capwell department stores, the largest in the
San Francisco Bay Area at that time. During my years with the Emporium, I rose through the executive ranks from Buyer for six years to General Manager and Store Manager for the Emporium Stevens Creek, followed by being the GM and Store Manager for the Emporium Stonestown, the largest suburban department store in Northern California. My chief responsibilities included initiating and managing an annual store expense budget for $25M+ in annual sales. I worked closely with my 12-person operating committee with weekly meetings discussing the Store’s total operation: Sales highlights by Dept., merchandise presentation, visual displays, customer service, and housekeeping. Our job was to create a good customer relationship, while providing a rewarding working environment for over 300 employees.
I left the Emporium-Capwell Company to join RMSA as a senior merchandise analyst. This was a new venture for me working with so many fine retailers. We reviewed, on a monthly basis, their previous months data and more importantly giving them projections and recommendations for the upcoming days, weeks, and months. Good informative communication was always at the forefront. Helping the stores to increase sales, through better turns and margins, improved their bottom line. My position was to grow and maximize all revenue opportunities for each store through ongoing education and communication. During my years with both the Emporium and RMSA, I had the challenge and rewarding experience of serving as a Director on seven Boards. I look forward to merging my background and experience with Management One’s successful background and experience, to further enhance my affiliate Stores operations as well as enjoying my affiliates at M-1 contributions.
