Barry Goodman
Barry has worked with independently owned retail businesses for 35 years. He was raised in a family business that sold high-quality furniture over 3 generations and 88 years. From an early age, he learned that locally owned businesses are the backbone of our communities. Barry understands and values the unique contributions that retailers make to their communities.
Barry provides consulting for many kinds of retail businesses. These businesses are as diverse as those found on Main Street in a New England downtown. They include apparel, footwear, toys, jewelry, sporting goods, kitchen and bath, and gifts and accessories among others. Barry has presented workshops for the Vermont Retail Association, Burlington Vermont’s Church Street Marketplace and numerous downtown retail associations across Vermont. Barry has particular expertise in outdoor and sporting goods businesses. He has been an invited speaker at national outdoor retail trade shows and for national outdoor businesses that sell to independent retailers.
Barry sees his role as a retail consultant to teach, train and mentor independent retailer owners and their staff. He helps retailers learn to plan their businesses more accurately in order to improve their profits and cash flow. This helps ensure that businesses will thrive. He has had the privilege of working with many of his retail clients for 10 to 25 years.
